Ms. Stedman, whose work has been exhibited at the Brooklyn Museum and in over 40 gallery shows, is known for her vivid use of color in a medium often associated with soft pastels. A review in Dan's Papers of last summer's show at the Lana Santorelli Gallery in Southampton, N.Y. commented on the striking colors in her “Cupid and Psyche” painting and called it, "One of the best watercolors I've seen in a while…"
The show is on view from June 2, 2008 through June 23, 2008 at the Bruckner Gallery, 1 Bruckner Boulevard near the antiques district of the Mott Haven section of the Bronx. The Bruckner Gallery is attached to the Bruckner Bar and Grill. On June 4th, the first Wednesday of the month, the Bronx Council on the Arts' Bronx Culture Trolley will travel, via a replica of an early 20th-century trolley car, to several galleries, restaurants and cultural venues and to the opening reception for the "Erotic Watercolors" exhibit.
The Bronx Culture Trolley is considered the "most successful of the city's trolley routes," according to an August 2007 report by the Center for an Urban Future. It stops at various galleries and restaurants in the Mott Haven and cultural corridor center of the Bronx. It is free to the public.
