International Deadline: January 9, 2008 - The American Royal is pleased to announce a juried,
gallery-style exhibit and sale of original paintings, graphite, photography,
drawing, and sculptures. The Art should depict the culture, spirit and history
of the American Royal Livestock, Horse Show and Rodeo and the Agra foundation of
the tall grass plains region.
The American Royal Art Show offers an exceptional opportunity to display
your work to an audience that gathers from all over the Heartland.
Mission
To promote and celebrate the excellence in agricultural progress, and
develop future generations of leaders though agrarian values, disciplines and
expressions of skills.
Purpose
The purpose of the American Royal is to provide scholarships, education,
awards and competitive learning experiences that reward hard work, leadership
skills and agrarian values.
The Exhibit
This exhibit and sale is a gallery styled event staffed with American Royal
Staff and volunteer sales personnel. Paintings and sculptures are exhibited in a
specially designated space. Space permitting, accepted artists may arrange to
paint or sculpt on site and meet the public. Artists do not need to be present,
and are not responsible for selling their work. The show draws a traditional
western crowd; horse show enthusiasts; farmers and ranchers as well as community
leaders, local business and corporate sponsors. To meet the expectations of this
diverse market, work in a range of prices and styles is encouraged. The exhibit
is not a festival with booths.

Best in Show winner will be promoted and printed in publications for the
2010 American Royal Art Show.

Distinguished jurors of selection and Juror of Awards to be
announced.
Invited Artists
In addition to juried artists, a small number of artists are invited to
exhibit. Management The exhibit will be staffed by American Royal Staff and
American Royal Volunteers. All work will be available for immediate sale and
removal by the buyer at completion of the event. Sealed bids will be accepted in
advance.
Invitation
All artists are encouraged to attend the event, work on site and meet the
public.
Entries
All entries must be original works. Each artist may submit up to ten (10)
entries. All entered work must be for sale.
Media
Sculpture, painting, drawing, photography and graphics in any media. There
is no minimum or maximum size. Substrates may include canvas, linen, wood, clay
board panels, paper, watercolor canvas, or any other substrate chosen by the
artist.

Entry Requirements
Entry will be with digital jpeg files on CD. A completed, signed entry form
(download) with non-refundable entry fee of $10 per entry, (check, money order,
or credit card) payable to The American Royal, (show producer) is required.

Entry Instructions
Please complete Media, Title, Dimensions (for sculpture as displayed
including depth and weight), and sale price for each entry; sign the agreement
(download); clip this section; print your name and address and enclose it with
your entry. Label CD of Entry Images.
Digital Requirements
- JPEG format, Quality 10 or best, 1024 x 768 pixels on CD.
- Entries shall be upright and not in need of rotation to view.
- Digital entries must be labeled on a separate sheet of paper giving
information such as entry file name, title size, artists name, etc.
- All CDs should be labeled and in protective cover.
- Entry Images Selection of work for the exhibit will be based printed
digital images. For three-dimensional pieces, images from different sides and
angles are encouraged. All images must be clearly marked with artist name and
title of piece to correspond with your entry form. Avoid distracting background
objects and frames in the entry image. Please be sure that the colors in the
reproduction are as close as possible to the colors in the actual
piece.
Art Sales
Buyers will purchase work through the American Royal staff by auction or
individual sale. Sales tax will be added to the price of the work and will be
submitted to the State of Missouri by the American Royal. Artists will receive
70% of the pre-taxed sale price.
Accepted artists will receive a sales instruction card to specify
acceptable terms of sale, such as discounts to buyer of more than one piece by
the same artist, lowest acceptable price, price if unframed work is an
option.
Artist gives the American Royal exclusive right to sell exhibited work for
the duration of the show.
Accepted work will not be released to or withdrawn by artist until show is
concluded unless the artist pays a 30% fee, based on listed sale price of the
piece, in advance of release. Any exhibited work sold by artist, within 60 days
of the end of the exhibition, to a buyer who saw the piece at the American Royal
Art Show is subject to a 30% sales commission to the American Royal.
Delivery & Return
Work must be insured and shipped or delivered to the American Royal, 1701
American Royal Court, Kansas City, MO 64102 at artist's expense. Work must be
received between April 24 and 28, from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm on weekdays only and
by appointment only on weekends.
Pick-up arrangements and payment for return of all shipped work must be
made by the artist directly with the shipping company. Do not send the American
Royal a check for return shipping costs. Unsold work may be picked up in person
after the close of the show and for two days thereafter. Shipped work will be
repacked in the packing materials in which it arrived; however, we cannot
replace large metal staples; loose foam peanuts; or boxes which were damaged
beyond repair in shipping, or which have had to be destroyed to remove the piece
from the box. DO NOT USE LOOSE FOAM PEANUTS IN PACKING YOUR WORK. Returned work
may be picked up by carriers at the American Royal, 1701 American Royal Court,
Kansas City, MO 64102 during regular office hours, 9AM - 4:30PM, May 3-6. If you
do not make arrangements for return of shipped work, we will do it for you:
shipped work not picked up by carriers by 4:30PM May 6 will be returned COD,
insured for 70% of the sale price, and will include a $100.00 handling charge.
Artist is responsible for insuring work against shipping damage. The
American Royal is not responsible for any damage during packing or shipping,
under any circumstances.
Display
All accepted work must arrive appropriately framed, matted and/or mounted.
"Gallery wrap" (unframed work with the painted canvas covering the stretcher bar
sides) is accepted for all media. Each piece must be wired for hanging. For the
protection of the work of other artists, no saw tooth, clamps or protruding
screw eyes can be used. Tape wire ends. Use Plexiglas, if possible, for media
under glass. Varnished work, including water media on canvas or other substrates
is welcome. Artists must remove all price tags for frames, canvas, and
pertaining to other shows and label the back of the piece with title and name of
artist. Sculptures must also include the size of the edition and the number of
the piece. The American Royal assumes total design control of the display. The
exhibit area is locked when exhibit is closed and display is manned when open.
Sculpture is secured with cable during duration of the show.
Accepted Work
If a piece is accepted into the show is sold by the artist prior to being
delivered for exhibit, contact the show Director. We will work with you to
select a replacement piece if possible.
