The three categories for entries are:
- Oils, Oil Pastel & Paintstiks
- Pastels & Drawing/Dry Media
- Water Media/Other (Printmaking, Mixed Media etc.).
Awards:
- Best In Show - $3,000 cash.
- First Place in each category will receive a $1,000 certificate for art materials from Jack Richeson & Co., Inc.
- Second Place Award in each category will receive a $500 certificate for art materials from Jack Richeson & Co., Inc.
- 75 Finalists and a number of alternates will be selected and invited to participate in the exhibit at the Richeson Gallery in Kimberly, Wisconsin from June 30-Aug. 23, 2010.
Jurors/Judging:
Terry Howell Stanley, PSA, artist and Director of Richeson School of Art & Gallery and a committee of art professionals from Jack Richeson & Co. will select the finalists. Judging of finalists will be based on digital images. Images submitted must represent the actual work to be delivered to the gallery.
Awards are determined after consideration of the actual artwork. Finalist notifications will be mailed by April 19, 2010.
Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. reserves the right to refuse to exhibit any work it deems unacceptable due to poor craftsmanship or significant departure from submitted image representation. Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. reserves the right to withhold awards if jurors deem submitted entries to be below minimum standards of excellence. Jury decisions are final.
Eligibility:
The Richeson 75: Still Life & Floral 2010 Competition is open to all artists over age 18. All work entered must be original in concept/execution and have been created since January 1, 2008. No work done in a class, workshop or under supervision is eligible. 2-D Art in the following categories is eligible: Oils, Oil Pastel/Paintstiks; Pastels & Drawing/Dry Media and Water Media/Other (Printmaking, Mixed Media etc.). No photography, electronic/computer generated art or 3-D. Work shown previously at Richeson School of Art and Gallery not accepted. Employees of Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. may enter to jury into the exhibit but are not eligible for awards.
NEW IN 2010:
Artists May enter up to 3 works in each eligible category (see “Eligibility” above), but a maximum of 7 artworks total.
Entry fee is $30 for the first entry and $10 per additional entry, up to a maximum total of 7 total entries. For example, You may choose to enter 2 pieces in Oils, 3 in Dry Media and 1 in Water Media: Your entry fee would be $80 ($30 first entry + 5 additional works @ $10 each). Or you may choose to enter 1 works in Oils, 3 works in Water Media and none in Dry Media, in which case your entry fee would be $60 ($30+$10+10+10).

Preparation:
Submit up to three 300 dpi .jpg digital images IN EACH CATEGORY on one CD. The smallest side of the image should measure no less than 8” (2400 ppi) and no larger than 16”(4900 ppi). Only one image per artwork entered.
Name the files: Your last name_titleofpainting (i.e. smith_spotthedog). All lower case: Do not put spaces between words in the title. Clearly label CD with the artist’s name and (for each work), title, media, size, and the year completed.
CDs become the property of Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. and will not be returned.
Any images that do not meet these specifications will be disqualified and discarded without being considered by the jurors and the jury fee will be forfeited by the artist. No slides, photographs and/or printouts. Only .jpg,images conforming to these standards will be considered.. Images should ONLY be of the artwork - do not include matting, frame, etc. in the image.
Please check your CD before sending it to make sure the images have been properly transferred! These are the images that will be used if your art is selected for the catalog: Be sure they are good!
Entry Fee:
Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form and a check or money order made payable to Richeson School of Art & Gallery, (or Master Card, Visa, American Express or Discover credit card information) in the amount of $30 for one image, $10 each for additional images. You may enter up to three pieces in each judging category. Do not send cash! Entry fees are non-refundable.
Exhibit Catalogs:
We anticipate publishing a full-color hard-cover book catalog of entries submitted to this competition (finalists, alternates and a selection of other meritorious entries). If entries are insufficient to justify catalog publication, we reserve the right to cancel catalog printing and all checks and credit card information will be voided and returned.
Presentation & Delivery/Shipping:
Artwork IMAGE may not exceed 48” in any direction and must weigh less than 50 pounds (framed). All entries must be suitably framed and wired for hanging (no clips or saw-tooth hangers). Works on paper must be framed and glazed (Plexiglas recommended).
Finalists will ship or deliver works to Richeson School of Art & Gallery for the Awards Exhibit. Only work included in the actual exhibit will be considered for awards. Shipped work must be sent in a reusable container. The artist is responsible for the cost of shipping to and from Richeson’s. Specific shipping or delivery instructions will be included with notifications of accepted work.
NOTE: INTERNATIONAL ENTRIES WILL RECEIVE SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS VIA EMAIL IF JURIED INTO THE EXHIBIT.
Sales:
Work need not be for sale to be eligible for the exhibition. Richeson School of Art & Gallery will make every effort to encourage sale of work available for purchase. Finalists will receive a consignment agreement. Works will be for sale unless noted as NFS [not for sale] on the entry form. Richeson Art School and Gallery will retain a 25% commission for all sales of work from this exhibition. Payment from sales will be made to the artist within 30 days after the close of the exhibition. The works selected will be shown at the Richeson Gallery and on-line at www.richeson75.com.
Liability:
Artists should insure their hand-delivered or shipped work, as Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. and/or its subsidiaries is not liable for damage to artwork in transit or during display at Richeson School of Art & Gallery.
Other Conditions:
If a selected finalist artist chooses not to ship or display their work for this exhibit, their work will not be considered for an award, although an image of the work will be included in the exhibit catalog, the Virtual Gallery. and www.richeson75.com. Artists agree to abide by all contest rules by their entry. Failure to comply with these rules in any manner constitutes withdrawal from the competition. If Jack Richeson & Co., Inc. deems the pool of entrants insufficient, the competition will be cancelled and all jury fees will be returned to entrants.

- July 9, 2010: Reception & Awards Ceremony.

- Aug. 17-Aug. 23, 2010: Shipped work returned & Pickup of hand-delivered work
