International Deadline: May 15, 2016 – 1650 Gallery announces it’s upcoming international juried photography exhibition, ‘Girls, Girls, Girls! Photo Exhibition’.
Oh, the compelling complexity of woman in the springtime of life. Her power knows no limits. Bear but a touch of her hand and she will hold you aloft. And one look askance can send you crashing down. Who can define the power of the ponytail? The face that launched a thousand ships? The ever-changing couture? Girls! Girls! Girls! Puzzles wrapped in a conundrum, sprinkled with mystery. So let your hair down and throw on some make-up and join the slumber party in your mind’s eye. Grab a camera and take a picture of your best girl, because this month at 1650 it’s Girls! Girls! Girls! all around!
Approximately fifty works will be chosen from submitted photos to be included in the GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS! group photography exhibition at 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles.
Andrew Overtoom is an award winning filmmaker and photographer living in Los Angeles. He publishes THE UNDEAD NEG photography blog and is currently launching a quarterly fine art photography journal. He is also the owner/curator of 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
Best In Show, 2nd Place and 3rd Place will be awarded and posted online after the show opening. Award winning photos will be featured on the show page and Best In Show winners will have a small portfolio of their work (up to 10 images) featured in our 1650 Spotlight gallery of photographic excellence.
All Awards winners will also be featured in our 1650 Gallery newsletter, which is broadcast via email to our mailing list. Getting the word out about artists we’re excited about helps you do more great work, helps us show more great work, and helps keep the often insular world of fine art photography more diverse and vibrant.
There is an entry fee of $35 for up to 5 images. Additional entries may be submitted for $5 each.
We offer free matting and framing for accepted photographs that fit our pre-cut mat sizes for the duration of the exhibition. We have a variety of frames and mats to choose from.
Selected photographs will be posted on the website within one week after the deadline, along with instructions for submitting work for exhibition. An email will also be sent out when the collection is posted.
Selected artists may choose to offer their work for sale. The gallery retains 50% of the sale price. There is a 9.25% California sales tax.
Photographs have the opportunity to be part of an online silent charity auction to benefit worthy causes. 1650 encourages all accepted artists to participate but it is not mandatory. We will provide additional info to accepted artists who fall into this category.
