Internet Only Still Life 2017
International Deadline: July 9, 2017 – Bauhaus Prairie Art Gallery’ announces an international call for artists for it upcoming online exhibition, “Still Life 2017”, on display July 15 – August 15, 2017.
“Still Life” art compositions started as studio practice for the artist. The subjects were always available and sat still. For students of the arts, “still life” was the entry into drawing and painting. Soon “still life” evolved into an art subject that most people can relate to. Modern art trends brought creative license with the subject that resulted in amazing innovations. “Still Life,” a staple subject in the art world, is created in a vast variety of styles, subjects and media from photorealism to total abstraction and consistently collected by museums as well as by individual collectors everywhere.
All artists 18 and over may enter. All 2 and 3-d media are accepted.
Originality, interpretation of theme, and mastery of medium
Best of Show – $75, First Place – $50, Second Place – $25, Third Place $25 and Fourth Place – $25. Also, a $50 Blick Art Materials Gift Certificate, donated by the company, will also be sent to the Best of Show winner.
Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded by the juror of the show. The award-winning artists will have their art prominently featured along with an article about their art career for the month, thus establishing a permanent archival link to their work. Honorable Mention will also be awarded at the discretion of the juror and those artists will be identified separately from the general exhibition. All accepted works will be displayed with the artist name, title of work, medium and a link back to their website, or email address if they do not have a website.
Award Certificate: Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, Third Place and Fourth Place will receive a matted Award of Excellence Certificate by mail and a small cash award.
