Competitions Body Politic
U.S. Multi-State Deadline: June 15, 2017 – Bromfield Gallery, one of Boston’s premier artist-run galleries, announces a call for artists for its upcoming exhibition, the ‘Body Politic’. On display August 2 thru 20, 2017.
Although the definition of “body politic” is an organized group of citizens, artists may use this term as inspiration: any artwork that addresses the body, politics or the intersection of the two. In these tumultuous times, artists are encouraged to address contemporary culture and controversial issues regarding private space and the control of one’s body. Submit artwork that provokes, challenges, illuminates!
Open to all media, any interpretations. New England artists only. All work must be for sale and ready to hang on the wall. No restrictions on size. Selected artwork must be dropped off and picked up; no shipping.
Juried by a committee of Bromfield Gallery artists.
APPLY ONLINE – $35 for up to 3 images.
Artwork must represent the jpgs submitted online. Please prepare carefully; no revisions are permitted after submission is complete.
Notification: July 15, 2017.
All work must be for sale. 50% gallery commission. Minimum sale price: $500.
Exhibition dates: August 2 – 20
Reception: Friday, August 4, 6-830 pm.
Drop off of selected artwork: Sunday, July 30, 12-5.
Pickup of artwork: Sunday, August 20, 12-5.

Founded in 1975, Bromfield Gallery is one of Boston’s premier artist-run galleries. With an emphasis on New England artists, Bromfield shows contemporary art in all media, including printmaking, sculpture, painting, and drawing, as well as video, installation, and new media.
The gallery is located in Boston’s dynamic SOWA district (South of Washington Street) in the South End, home to over two dozen contemporary art galleries.
