Opportunity Description

U.S. National Deadline: September 8, 2023 – Once is the Cleve Carney Art Museum’s juried emerging artist exhibition. This exhibition provides a survey of contemporary artwork being created by emerging artists in the region and across the country. Once is meant to be a stepping stone for those early in their artistic careers.

On display October 7, 2023 – January 7, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY
This exhibit is open to artists nationwide. This exhibition is open to all contemporary artists working in 2d, 3d, audio, installation, performance and video. For those located in the Chicago area the gallery will arrange for local pick-up, but cannot guarantee to cover shipping costs outside of the region. The Cleve Carney Museum of Art is not responsible for any framing, mounting, printing or other work specific costs.

All submitted work must be available for inclusion in the exhibition and must have been produced within the past year.

JURORS

  • Pritika Chowdhry: Visual Artist, Curator at the South Asia Institute, member of the Board of Directors of the Women Made Gallery, Chicago
  • Orianna Cacchione: Assistant Museum Director at the University of California, Santa Barbara
  • Jonathan Michael Castillo: Visual Artist
  • Kasia Houlihan: Artist and Independent Curator

AWARDS
Three artists from the exhibition will be selected to receive a $500 award for outstanding submissions and one artist will receive a $1500 award for best in show. The awards will be determined by the panel of jurors and be based on the artworks quality of execution, conceptual clarity as well as its relevance to contemporary art and society.

APPLY ONLINE – No Entry Fee

Artists can submit up to 5 images of their work for consideration.

  • Acceptance Notification: Friday September 15, 2023. Artists will be notified via the email provided in the application.
  • Accepted Artwork drop off: Tuesday September 26, 2023 Carney Museum of Art 11am-5pm
  • Exhibit Dates: Saturday, October 7 – January 7, 2023
  • Opening Reception: TBA
