Competitions Pleasing to the Palette, A Feast for the Eyes!
U.S. Regional Deadline: May 19, 2017 – From Palate to Palette! Food and art share a long history. Food continues to be portrayed today for its natural beauty made of organic shapes and rich colors. Here is your opportunity to show us food through the eyes of an artist!
Open to all Bay Area Artists, accomplished, mid-career and emerging artists are encouraged to apply. Must be over 18 years of age.
Exhibition Dates: June 30-August 18, 2017.
Opening Reception: Friday, June 30 from 6:00 p.m-8:00 p.m.
Art & Wine Stroll: Thursday, August 18, 2017 from 6:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
Maria Medua serves as the Director of the SFMOMA Artists Gallery, where she has organized more than 50 gallery exhibitions and has worked closely with 300 artists from the Bay Area and beyond. As a consultant to more than 150 businesses, she has helped plan rotating shows as well as acquisitions for 65 permanent corporate collections. She currently oversees the development of exhibition and sales related programs, including on-site consultations, informational presentations, and artist talks.
All artworks must be original (no reproductions), completed within the last year (2016-2017). Artwork that has been previously exhibited at the Village Theatre Art Gallery will not be accepted. Artist states that s/he is the sole owner of the artwork. Only artist may submit artwork for selection (i.e. gallery owners/collectors/clients may not submit artwork on an artist’s behalf). Photography must have an edition number in order to be considered fine art.
Accepted media includes 2-D and 3-D artworks and video-media (artist must provide CD for viewing). No jewelry. All artwork must come to the gallery ready to hang/display and artist will pay for transportation and/or shipping of artwork to and from gallery. Works must be wired and ready to hang (with no wires showing). Photography must be framed. Canvases must have finished edges. Artwork not adequately prepared or formatted will not be included in exhibition.
Please include specific dimensions, weight and installation instructions per image. The Village Theatre Art Gallery reserves the right not to accept unusually large or cumbersome work.
Artist agrees to keep their artwork in the exhibition for the entire duration of the exhibition.
The entry fee is $35.00. Please make your check payable to the Town of Danville.

Jurying will be done from digital images only, thus image quality is critical. There is a limit of three images per artist. Entries must be submitted on or before 5:00pm, May 19, 2017. Any entries received after that date or that are incomplete will not be considered. Entries will not be returned.
Artist will be notified of the results by e-mail no later than 5:00pm June 5, 2017.
Please only submit artwork that you wish to sell. Artwork that is not for sale will not be shown in the exhibition. All sales will be subject to the Town of Danville’s Gallery Sales Policies (60% to the artist, 40% reserved by the Town).
Built in 1873 for use as a farmer’s lodge, the Village Theatre has been used as a Grange Hall, movie theatre, and church. Recognized as a historic site by the Heritage Resource Commission, the Village Theatre now serves as Performing Arts Theatre. In 2009, the Village Theatre was renovated and the lobby expanded to include an art gallery. The 1,000 sq. ft space opened its doors on November 14, 2009 and hosts quality art exhibits and receptions.
