Internships Freer-Sackler Gallery’ Internships
U.S. National Deadline: Recurring July 15, October 15, March 15 – Internships at the Freer-Sackler Gallery provide an educational experience guided by a mentor. Internships are available to high school, undergraduate, and graduate students for special projects and general departmental work. Most departmental internships do not provide a stipend.
Applicants may indicate up to three departments of interest. in the following departments:
Collections Management (Registrar)
Conservation and Scientific Research
Design and Production
Education and Public Programs
Membership and Development
Public Affairs and Marketing
Rights and Reproductions
Scholarly Programs and Publications
For each internship term, applications must be submitted by the following dates:
Spring: October 15
Summer: March 15
Fall: July 15
To apply for an internship at the Freer and Sackler Galleries, fill out an online application using the Smithsonian Online Academic Appointment system (SOLAA).
Select “Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery Internship Program” from the drop-down program list.
The application must include a statement of interest, a transcript or resume, and two letters of recommendation, Internship projects, schedules, and other parameters vary based on a variety of factors and will be determined by the staff mentor and prospective candidate at the time of interview or selection. Some departments offer internships only at particular times.
All applicants will be notified regarding acceptance within two months of the application deadline.
