Competitions Photography as Social Conscience
U.S. National Deadline: November 18, 2016 – The Lore Degenstein Gallery of Susquehanna University announces its ‘Photography as Social Conscience: Impassioned Portrayals of Race in the United States’, on display January 28 thru March, 5, 2017.
Photography has always been an essential medium for revealing realities of race relations in the United States, both unsettling and uplifting. This national juried photography exhibition seeks images that portray a broad range of perspectives on race in the U.S. today.
All local as well as national emerging and mid-career artists will be considered in this call for work. All types of photographic mediums, both analog and digital, printed on any medium will be considered.
Ceaphas Stubbs, a New Jersey-based artist, Photography/Digital Art Instructor at Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, New Jersey, and Newark Arts Council board member.

Second Prize – $1125
Third Prize – $825

ENTRIES & FEES
Exhibition inclusions will be juried from digital media, so quality is essential. Artists may submit up to three (3) works for the non-refundable fee of $25.
Notification of acceptance via e-mail: Nov 30/31, 2016.
All accepted works must be ready to hang. All 2 dimensional entries must be framed behind either glass or plexiglass. Unframed canvas wrap prints are acceptable. Prints mounted on metal or plexiglas without frames are acceptable. No work that requires special installation or instructions will be accepted. Works will not be returned before the end of the exhibition
The Gallery will take no commission on sale of work. All sales inquiries will be referred to the artists.

- January 28: Exhibition Opening and Award Presentation (7 – 9 pm)
- March 5: Exhibition ends

The Lore Degenstein Gallery presents work by both professional and student artists in five exhibitions a year. The gallery is located in the Degenstein Campus Center. All Lore Degenstein Gallery events are free and open to the public.
