U.S. Multi-State Deadline: July 10, 2017 – Galatea Fine Art’ announces a call for artists for its upcoming juried exhibition, ‘New England Collective VIII’. Open to artists from New England working in all media. On display August 2nd through August 27th, 2017.

Charles Giuliano is the publisher/ editor of the on line site Berkshire Fine Arts. For many years he was a columnist and contributing editor to Art New England and Boston correspondent for Art News. He held staff positions as a critic for the daily Boston Herald Traveler and Boston After Dark/ Phoenix. In addition to teaching art history and humanities for Suffolk University/ New England School of Art & Design he ran its gallery program focused on Boston and New England artists. He has organized exhibitions for museums and universities. He has written numerous catalogue essays as well as for the books, Pioneers from Provincetown: The Roots of Figurative Expressionism, curated by Adam Zucker, I00 Boston Painters by Chawky Frenn and Jean Gibran’s Love Made Visible about the Boston sculptor, Kahlil Gibran. Since June, 2014 he has published three books of gonzo poetry with a fourth due this summer. In 1970 he coined the word gonzo.

Artists can submit a maximum of 2 works. The fee for submission is $25.00. Checks should be made out to Galatea Fine Art. You may also submit payment via PayPal to galateafinearts@yahoo.com.

2D works must be no larger than 60” tall or wide. Diptychs/Triptychs are considered one entry and should be united as one image for viewing by our juror. Works in Sculpture can be no larger than 60” tall and 36” deep, and should weigh no more than 75 lbs. Sculpture artists may send 2 images of each submitted work for consideration. If accepted, pedestals, if needed, should be provided by the artist. Video/Digital submissions should be on DVD or CD; if accepted, artists must provide DVD/CD player and monitor for presentation.

All works selected for the exhibition must be clean, finished, and ready to hang. Works not adhering to this protocol will not be hung, even if selected by our juror.

All entries are to be in digital format as JPG images by email or on a CD. JPG images can be sent by email to galateafinearts@yahoo.com. You may cut and paste the submission form and include it in the body of the email, or simply attach it along with the images.

No DVD submissions with the exception of video entries. Entries are due no later than July 10th, 2017. Entries must include the completed information forms. Image resolution should be no more than 1024X600 pixels at 150 dpi. Entries not adhering to this procedure will not be juried. For the return of materials, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope

Accepted artists will be listed on the Galatea website by July 20th, 2017. Please go to the website at www.galateafineart.com. No phone calls, please.

Artists should provide an artist’s statement and resume when dropping off the works.

Works must be hand delivered by the artists or a representative to the gallery on July 28th, 29th and 30th between 12 and 5pm. Works not delivered in time will not be hung. The juror reserves the right to decline any work that differs markedly from its digital representation.

Galatea Fine Art receives 30% commission on all sold works.

Artists must pick up works on either Sunday, August 27th or Monday, August 28th, between 12 and 5pm. The gallery will not store works and will not be responsible for works not picked up from the gallery.
