Competitions National Purebred Dog Day Fine Arts Competition
International Deadline: October 25, 2016 – National Purebred Dog Day celebrates the heritage, diversity and predictability of purebred dogs. We are pleased to announce our inaugural Fine Arts Competition, and invite artists to this Call for Entry.
The Challenge: Over 300 dog breeds exist in the world today, some at risk of vanishing in our lifetime. To honor the rich heritage of these breeds, the theme of National Purebred Dog Day’s 2016 competition is “diversity.”
Artists are encouraged to incorporate the images of purebred dogs representing the American Kennel Club’s groups: Hound, Sporting, Terrier, Non-Sporting, Toy, Herding,Working, and Miscellaneous.
The competition is open to all artists worldwide that have no affiliation with an animal rights group. Entries must be original artwork in both concept and execution, and no portion may be of another artist’s published or copyrighted work.
Submitted work may be in oil, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, colored pencil, pastel, water soluble oils, casein, charcoal, mixed media, egg tempura, or ink. Photographs, sculptures, digital or fiber art is not accepted; Images must be of purebred dogs.
BENEFITS & AWARDS
One “Best in Show ” winner as determined by the juror will receive $2,000, their winning image made into a poster representing National Purebred Dog Day for 2016, and forever known as the very first winner of the National Purebred Dog Day Fine Arts Competition.
All accepted entries will be available for purchase on National Purebred Dog Day’s website after the winner has been announced; This provides a unique opportunity for artists to showcase their talent to a concentrated audience of purebred dog owners and admirers.
