Competitions Art at the X: Celebrating Women

International Deadline: May 17, 2019 – Xavier University’s ART at the X invites artists to submit art that celebrates 50 years of women at Xavier University through a national juried exhibition: ART at the X: Celebrating Women. This project comprises an exhibition of original works of art thematically focused on woman-centered subjects.
Open to artists over the age of 18 (any gender). Entries must be original works of art. All 2D and 3D art will be considered except video, performance and installation. Entries must not exceed 48 x 90 inches or weigh over 75 lbs. No entry that requires the artist to be present for moving or assembly will be accepted.
Cynthia Amnéus is the Chief Curator and Curator of Fashion Arts and Textiles at the Cincinnati Art Museum. She received her B.A. from Edgecliff College of Xavier University and her M.A. from Illinois State University in textiles and fibers.
Purchase awards will be made to buy art for permanent exhibition on the University’s campus to celebrate women.
A maximum of three entries are allowed per artist. Submit a non-refundable entry fee of $35 for up to three entries, payable to Xavier University Art Gallery HERE. Xavier University faculty, staff, students, and alumni may enter the competition with no entry fee.
Artists submit digital images using JPG format. Images should not exceed 5mb in size. Label digital images with last name, number, and title of work: (smith_01_title.jpg). Failure to follow this format will result in disqualification of the entry. JPGs should be numbered to correspond with entry.

The Xavier University Art Gallery is located on the first floor of the A.B. Cohen Center on the campus of Xavier University and consists of two exhibition spaces totaling 1700 square feet. The Art Gallery functions as an educational resource by hosting exhibitions of artwork by professional visual artists, the Department of Art students and faculty, as well as programs deemed to be of interest to the public.
