Call for Submissions Fitton Center for Creative Arts Seeks Exhibition Proposals

International Deadline: October 22, 2018 – The Fitton Center for Creative Arts is accepting proposals in all visual art media for solo and group exhibitions for the 2019-2020 schedule across four galleries that provide 2,600 square feet of space. A community art center on the Great Miami River in arts-driven downtown Hamilton, Ohio, the Fitton Center provides experiences in the arts through exhibitions, classes, performances and other events.
The Anne Ruder Bever Galleries at the Fitton Center feature hardwood floors, light cool gray painted walls, beautiful wood grid drop ceilings, contemporary museum LED track lighting and ceiling suspension load up to 200 lbs. Display walls are backed with 3/4 inch plywood to support weighty works. These first and second floor galleries consist of 2,600 square feet of space in 4 separate gallery rooms and a corridor gallery.
Thousands of visitors experience the galleries monthly during artist receptions, group tours, gallery talks, rental and performance series events and while attending classes and other community-related activities.
Solo artists generally are asked to exhibit 10 to 30 works, depending on scale, media and available space. We also offer group shows of existing guilds or alliances and to individuals willing to be selected into a curated group show.
AWARDS AND SUPPORT
Artists invited into solo and group exhibitions will receive a modest honorarium (based on funds available in the exhibition series annual budget determined in spring 2019).
If current sponsorship holds, artists living over near the Fitton Center may also receive a complimentary night’s stay at a local hotel to support reception attendance or travel during installation.
Fitton Center staff, interns and volunteers will install artwork unless on-site assembly requires the presence of the artist. Fitton Center staff will design, produce and install signage associated with exhibitions.
Exhibiting artists have the opportunity to offer artwork for sale and will receive 70% of the listed retail price for each artwork sold.
A $25 non-refundable fee is required at the time of proposal submission. Online payment may be made at the end of the Online Submission Form.
A completed Online Submission Form that includes file uploads of 150-word Artist Statement, 150-word Presentation Statement, CV, 10 artwork JPEGS with corresponding Image List and $25 non-refundable fee are required for gallery proposals.
Proposals are selected based on quality of the work and how it contributes to the diversity of style, media and content for the year. Selections are made by a committee of experienced artists, academics and others with knowledge and enthusiasm for the visual arts and the community.
Selected artists from this proposal review will be scheduled during the July 2019 – July 2020 programming year or beyond.

During the 2017-18 exhibition schedule, an average of 8 artworks were purchased from each of 4 exhibitions. (The Fitton Center retains a 30% commission from gallery sales.)
