RFP/Q's Courts Building Public Art
Opportunity Description
U.S. National Deadline: November 6, 2024 – Gallatin County is inviting professional or emerging visual artists, or artist teams, to submit proposals for the creation of original artwork that embodies the themes of justice, reconciliation, and peace.
The objective of this artwork is to contribute to a serene and restorative environment within the new Gallatin County Courts Building. The commissioned artist will be responsible for developing a site-specific installation that harmonizes with the Center’s design and mission. This installation should enhance the atmosphere by fostering a sense of calm and renewal, aligning with the values and purpose of the Law and Justice Center.
ELIGIBILITY
Professional or emerging/student artist or artist team 18 years of age and older residing in the United States, regardless of race, color, national origin (ancestry) sex, sexual preference/orientation, gender identity, gender expression, transgender, marital or parental status, creed, religion or political beliefs, mental or physical disability, genetic information or status as a veteran.

This RFP is open to professional and emerging artists over the age of 18 who are located in the United States. Artists residing in Montana, Tribal residents, and those with a significant connection to Montana are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must have the ability to travel to Bozeman, Montana, to complete the installation(s).
BUDGET
Artists can submit proposals for one or more installations. The maximum budget for each public art design and installation is as follows:
- Interior 3D Ceiling Signature Piece – $65,000
- Exterior 3D Piece – $35,000
- Exterior 2D Piece – $7,000
- “Ready To Hang” artworks for the interior collection. (These works would be framed by the Center so no need to be framed. The submissions would need to fall under the same aesthetic theme as previously described. These would not need a formal proposal but would require all the rest of the stated requirements to be fulfilled.)
These budgets are expected to include the cost of materials, installation, transportation, and artist fees.
