Competitions Master Pieces: 13th Annual International MFA/MA Exhibition
International Deadline: May 3, 2019 – Manifest Creative Research Gallery’s ‘Annual International MFA/MA Exhibition’ offers an opportunity just for graduate students to exhibit at our gallery in Cincinnati.
Up to three of Manifest’s exhibit spaces will be devoted to the Master Pieces 13 exhibition. On display July 12 – August 9, 2019
This 13th installment of the Master Pieces project will continue to reveal the intensity and professionalism of students working towards their terminal academic degree in the field of art or design. Often the most exceptional work comes out of these artists’ immersion in their culture of study and intellectual pursuit. Manifest’s goal, therefore, is to select works that set the standard of quality that the artist is expected to maintain throughout his or her professional career and justify the degree of Master.
The full-color hardcover Manifest Exhibition Annual publication, a ‘yearbook’ for the season, will serve as a visual documentation of these artists’ own benchmarks for years to come.
Master Pieces is open to current MFA/MA students or MFA/MA graduates since January 2018. All entries must represent original works of art or design.
Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts media, genre, subject matter, and content. There is no thematic guideline. Media may include but is not limited to: drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, installation, etc.
The annual Manifest Grand Jury Prize will result in the awarding of one cash prize ($2500) to a single work selected as the ‘best of the entire season’. Winner will be determined by a final end-of-year jury from among a pool of all top-scoring works from each exhibit’s jury process across the current exhibition season.
JURY & CURATOR
Manifest’s selection process involves a complex two-part system. This exhibit will be juried by an anonymous several member volunteer panel of professional artists and academic advisors with a broad range of expertise relative to art and design. The jury will then pass along their recommendations to the exhibit curator who will design the exhibit from the jury-approved pool.
Manifest Press will produce a high quality hard-cover publication documenting each entire season of exhibits, artists, and works shown. This continues Manifest’s commitment to long-term documentation and dissemination of our projects, and the expansion of physical exhibits into a broader geography and time frame, while also bringing all exhibits together under one cover each year to create a better product which will be more valuable to the public, teachers, libraries, and exhibiting artists.
$25 for one entry, $40 for two or three entries, and $10 per each additional entry. Fees are non-refundable. Number of entries is unlimited.
SALE OF ARTWORK
Artworks are not required to be for sale in order to be included in our exhibitions. Manifest Gallery will retain a commission of 30% of the sale price on all artwork sold during the exhibition.
