Opportunity Description

U.S. Regional Deadline: April 16, 2019 – The Monmouth Museum is committed to providing opportunities for New Jersey artists. We understand that the competition to be recognized in the neighboring major urban cities of New York and Philadelphia can be overwhelming to artists just entering the exhibition arena.

The New Jersey Emerging Artists Series consists of six annual monthly solo exhibitions to showcase the new work of NJ artists who have not previously held one-person exhibitions in our State. Selected artists are guided through the exhibition process, provided promotional materials and are required to give an artist talk during their exhibition to further increase their visibility.

This exhibition opportunity is open to any artist who is a full-time resident of New Jersey, who is 18 years of age or older, and has not previously held a one-person exhibition in this State. This includes solo exhibitions in any public venue where work was exhibited for a period of over three weeks, publicized in the media, and accompanied by an opening reception. If selected, proof of New Jersey residency is required.

Artwork will be considered in all media, but must be wall-mountable.

The Monmouth Museum Exhibition Committee will jury all submissions. The Committee consists of museum administrators, college art professors, professional visual artists, curators, designers, art directors, gallery owners and art appraisers.

Submissions will be judged on creativity, originality, technique/skill, presentation and overall quality.

APPLY ONLINE – $15 Entry Fee
Artworks will be considered through online submission of digital images.

Artists selected for the NJ Emerging Artists Series 2019 – 2020 will be contacted directly via email by the end of the day on Thursday, May 16, 2019.

The Monmouth Museum encourages the sale of exhibited artwork. The Museum will collect the purchase price for all work, take a 10% sales commission and issue a check for the remainder to the artist at the close of their exhibition.

The Monmouth Museum is a private, non-profit organization established in 1963. The Museum is one of the largest private museums in New Jersey, with an annual attendance exceeding 40,000. A Museum of Ideas, presents changing art, history and science exhibitions to educate and entertain while providing a destination for creative expression and life-long learning to the diverse community it serves.
