Competitions Oil Painters of America 30th National Juried Exhibition
International Deadline: January 22, 2021 – Oil Painters of America’s is pleased to announce that the Thirtieth National Exhibition will be held at the California Center for the Arts, located in Escondido, California from April 9 through May 16, 2021.
The focus in the jurying process will be to select paintings that show the highest quality in draftsmanship, color, and composition, emphasizing a diversity in representational style and subject matter.
Artists eligible to compete are citizens – both natural born or otherwise – of the United States, Canada, or Mexico who are 2021 OPA members. Nonresident aliens who currently live in the United States, Canada, or Mexico are eligible to participate provided that they have been physically present at the address provided to OPA for eight of the last twelve months and that the residency is considered to be their permanent domicile and that they are 2021 OPA members.
Painting must have been created within the last 3 years. Paintings must be created on one singular flat substrate and framed and wired for hanging. Your submission must be originally conceived: your own reference, your own drawing, your own concept and must have been self-painted.
The total national awards will be approximately $100,000 in cash and merchandise, including a $25,000 Best In Show.
The awarding juror will be Master Signature member Jeffrey Watts.
The jurying fee for electronic entries is as follows: one painting is $30.00, two paintings are $45.00 or three paintings are $60. Only one painting can be accepted.

All work must be for sale. Sales commission of 40% is required by the gallery for all paintings sold. Please take this into consideration when setting your price.
- January 22: Deadline for submissions
- February 24: Acceptance notification posted on the OPA website
- March 15 thru March 18: Both shipped and hand delivered artwork to arrive
- April 9: Opening Reception. Awards Presentation: announcement of award recipients
- April 9 thru May 16: Length of time show will be open for viewing
- May 17 thru 21: Local Artists removal of paintings during this period
