Competitions Pennsylvania Watercolor Society’s 40th Juried Exhibition

International Deadline: May 15, 2019 – The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society announces an open call for artists to enter our 40th Juried Exhibition.
Open to artists 18 or older, working with water media on paper. All work must be original, finished after May 2016, and not previously shown in any Juried exhibition or the PWS members show. Your source material must be your own design or your own photograph. Prints, copies, class work, photo-lithographic or computer generated artwork are not eligible. Collage elements must be less than 10% and comprised of water media on paper. No diptychs or triptychs. Maximum size is 40” (outside frame measurement any direction). Minimum image size is 8 x 10 inches. The list of accepted PWS entries will be shared with other watercolor societies.
Over $14,000 in awards is anticipated:

Juror of Selection
John T. Salminen NWS, AWS.DF lives and works in Duluth, Minnesota. He teaches workshops, makes presentations and participates in painting events around the world. John is a signature member of numerous art societies, including the American Watercolor Society – Dolphin Fellowship, the National Watercolor Society, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America – Distinguished Master. He is an honorary member of the Jiangsu Watercolor Research Institute in China and the first American ever to be awarded membership in the Australian Watercolour Institute. Juror of Awards
Matthew Bird is an American painter. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, he graduated with honors from the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, New York, in 2000. He is a Signature Member of numerous organizations, including the National Watercolor Society, and his award-winning watercolor paintings have been exhibited in juried shows across the United States, as well as in Canada, China, Greece, Hong Kong, and Italy. His work is in a permanent museum collection as well as numerous private collections.
Members: $25 for 1 or 2 entries
Non-Members: $40 for 1 or 2 entries

PWS prefers that paintings are for sale and priced at your current actual market value. Paintings may also be marked not for sale (NFS). No changes in price or sale status will be allowed on accepted artwork! A commission of 35% will be charged on each sale. Artwork for sale is encouraged.

- September 8, 2019 – Opening Reception – 1-4 pm, Awards at 3
- October 26, 2019 – Exhibit Closes
- October 27, 2019 – Pick-up Hand-delivered Work (12 —4 pm)
