Opportunity Description

U.S. National Deadline: August 24, 2018 – UrbanArt Commission announces two RFQ’s:

WATERMARK RESIDENTIAL/FOREST HILL HEIGHTS
UrbanArt Commission is partnering with Watermark Residential and the City of Germantown to produce a series of four sculptures that will encourage public interaction with civic areas, and help create a connection between planned residential and retail spaces. The selection committee expresses an interest in public art pieces that will help energize public spaces and encourage activity and use of civic areas; be durable to sustain interactive use; inspire play, interaction, and curiosity; create a sense of human-scaled architectural character; use high-quality materials, follows design guidelines as outlined in the Forest Hills Heights design manual.

ELIGIBILITY
Any artist living and working in the United States. Memphis-based artists are strongly encouraged to apply. Artists are invited to apply as a team if desirable.

BUDGET: $162,000

CITY OF MEMPHIS COSSITT LIBRARY
UrbanArt Commission is partnering with the City of Memphis to produce a large sculpture that attracts and engages Memphians and visitors to the library. The selection committee expresses an interest in a public art piece that will consider the mid-century architecture and history of the building; be durable to sustain interactive use; include a participatory element that visitors can look forward to, particularly families with children; welcome individuals to the library without being a barrier; incorporate functional elements such as seating into the design.

ELIGIBILITY
Any artist living and working in the United States. Memphis-based artists are strongly encouraged to apply.

BUDGET: $145,500
