Competitions WPG’ 2019 National Small Works Competition

U.S. National Deadline: June 15, 2019 – Washington Printmakers Gallery, located in the fashionable Georgetown neighborhood of Washington DC, seeks small works for an exhibit to be held from August 1 – 25, 2019. Grand Prize is a 2020 Solo Exhibition at the gallery.
This exhibition is open to any artist 18 years of age or older residing in the United States of America except members of the Washington Printmakers Gallery. A maximum of 4 original works created within the past 2 years may be entered.
Hand-pulled prints, screen prints, digital prints, photographs, and three-dimensional work – including artist books – with print components, completed within the past two years. Image may be no larger than 100 square inches, with framed size of 256 square inches or less. 3D works are limited to 250 cubic inches.
The juror is JD Talasek, the director of Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences. Mr. Talasek is creator and moderator for a regular salon called DASER (DC Art Science Evening Rendezvous) held at the NAS and he organizes a similar salon in Austin, Texas. He has served as a creator, organizer, and advisor for numerous conferences, publications, and symposia. Founded in 1985, the Gallery is the greater DC metro area’s primary source for contemporary fine art prints, and has a membership of exceptional local and national printmakers. Every month Washington Printmakers Gallery has a group exhibit of members’ work and a solo show. The gallery also houses bins and flatfiles with prints and a limited collection of artist books and portfolios.
