Competitions 8th Bower Center Annual National Juried Exhibition
U.S. National Deadline: June 4, 2020 – Bower Center for the Arts’ call for artists to enter our 8th Annual National Juried Exhibition.
This exhibit has historically seen artworks in numerous media- painting, drawing, print-making, collage, photography, sculpture, mosaics, fiber art, fabric, stained and fused glass, and more.
Exhibit dates: July 28-September 19, 2020.
This exhibition is open to all artists over the age of 18. All entries must be original works (no reproductions) and created by the artists within the past three years and not been in a previous juried or judged exhibit at Bower Center. 2-D artwork must be secured in sturdy frames or gallery-wrap, and wired for hanging (no saw-tooth hangers or loops embedded in cardboard backing). Photographs should to be mounted, if rippling shows they may be rejected.
Deborah McLeod is the owner and director of Chroma Projects Art Laboratory, a contemporary arts gallery open in downtown Charlottesville since 2010. As a staff member or guest curator, she has worked with institutions throughout the Commonwealth, including Second Street Gallery, Longwood Center for the Visual Arts (Farmville), Peninsula Fine Arts Center (Newport News), Hand Workshop (now the Visual Arts Center of Richmond), Richmond Arts Council, and McLean Project for the Arts. She is also an active arts journalist, exhibition catalog author, and juror. McLeod earned her B.A. degree in Arts Management at Mary Baldwin College. She studied art criticism and art conservation at VCU, and craft and sculpture at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
$35 entry fee for up to 3 works of art, plus $10. for a 4th art entry.
All art may be for sale. Artist is responsible for providing correct pricing, entry lists and identification labels. Bower Center will retain a 30% commission from the sales of art sold.
