U.S. National Deadline: April 22, 2026 – First Street Gallery’ is a nonprofit contemporary art gallery located in the heart of Chelsea, steps from the High Line. Through innovative programming that brings art and the community together, First Street Gallery’ continues to nurture, educate, inspire and challenge artists everywhere. As an artist run gallery, we encourage members to pursue and determine the course of their own artistic careers.
FIRST STREET GALLERY 2026 NATIONAL JURIED EXHIBITION
First Street Gallery announces an exhibition opportunity, “2026 National Juried Exhibition”.
On display June 25 – July 18, 2026 in our Chelsea Gallery located at 547 West 27th Street, Suite 514, New York, NY 10001.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to U.S. resident artists at least 18 yrs. old. Eligible works include original oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, prints, photography, mixed media, assemblage and sculpture in any medium. No giclées or similar reproductions.
- Size & Weight Limits: All Wall-Hung Work (2D or 3D): May not exceed 36 inches in height OR width including any frame (ie.36×36 inches max). Maximum depth from wall: 10 inches. Maximum weight: 30 lbs.
- 2D work must be suitably framed (or sides cleanly finished or painted), wired, ready to hang. Works on paper MUST be framed under plexi-glass or glass.
- Free Standing Sculpture (3D): Maximum width or depth of sculpture is 30 inches. No height limit. Maximum weight is 50 lbs. Sculptors must provide floor stand with maximum footprint of 30 x 30 inches. The gallery has a small number of stands for small sculptures on request. NO work can be hung from ceiling or pipes.
JUROR
Scott Noel is a Philadelphia-based painter who has taught painting and drawing in the region since 1982, culminating with a 28-year journey with the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Over the same period, he has mounted over forty solo shows and has participated in numerous group exhibitions at commercial and university galleries. As a curator Noel has organized ten exhibitions exploring themes in perceptual painting and written catalogue essays on behalf of Lennart Anderson, Larry Day, Ben Kamihira, Sangram Majumdar, Peter Van Dyck, William Barnes, Michael Ananian and Philip Geiger. His most recent curatorial effort, “Contre-Jour and the Corinthian Maid,” advances a personal account of painting’s interpretation of light. ENTRY FEE
The fee is $40 for 1–3 works, $5 for each additional work, up to 6 works total. Entry fees are non-refundable.

ACCEPTANCE
Work accepted into the show may be refused if it does not conform to the entered image or exceeds size or weight limits. Absolutely NO substitutions of accepted works. All work must remain in the gallery throughout the show.
SALES
The gallery will take NO commission on sales. Work not for sale must be marked “N.F.S.” No P.O.R. sales.
