Opportunity Description

International Deadline: April 30, 2024 – The Homiens Art Prize is an international, non-acquisitive art prize (valued at $24,000 USD annually) open to all artists and art forms. The Prize offers egalitarian, accessible, and democratic support for artists, awarded every two months. We are proud to celebrate large number of deserving artists; exhibiting their art online, where it can be viewed for free by anyone. In this spirit, we also offer prestigious publication opportunities, and work to raise the visibility and public profiles of the artists we champion.

The Prize takes place entirely online. All artworks accepted, and all artists encouraged to enter. Entrants are not required to transport or mail physical work to Homiens at any stage.

ELIGIBILITY
Open to all artists. There are no theme or size restrictions. We are delighted to accept all mediums and art forms.

JURY
The Jurors will be Director of Homiens, Kita Das, and Ol James, PhD. All entries are reviewed blind.

Kita Das has completed a BFA at COFA (now UNSW Art & Design) where she graduated with Distinction. She is currently on full academic scholarship, completing a PhD at UNSW, where she researches transnational creative practice. She has exhibited work at leading galleries, worked at prominent museums, and is the Co-Art Director of The Letter Review. Her skills as both practicing artist and researcher coalesce in her desire to assist artists internationally to participate in a democratized, egalitarian, and accessible professional art industry.

Ol James, PhD. is the current Co-Art Director of The Letter Review, holds a PhD from UNSW, is a casual academic, and has guest lectured at UNSW. Ol has worked at other prestigious magazines including Overland, and Southerly. Ol has had creative work published in leading magazines, work longlisted for major awards, and has received major government funding to produce original work at major venues.

BENEFITS & AWARDS

  • All entrants can elect to receive detailed feedback.
  • 10 Winners each receive an unrestricted cash prize of $400 USD, are exhibited by Homiens and published in our exhibition catalog, receive an optional interview, feature in our prestigious annual publication, the Homiens 60, and may request a letter of recommendation from our Jurors.
  • 18 Shortlisted artists are exhibited by Homiens, and published in our exhibition catalogue.
  • 60 Longlisted artists are celebrated on our website.
  • All entrants are considered for exhibition by Homiens.
  • All artworks accepted, and all artists encouraged to enter.

ENTRY FEE
You may enter as many times as you like. It costs $20 to enter 1-3 artworks.

Homiens is an international art gallery by artists, for artists and collectors, which lowers barriers to entry for artists seeking to participate and succeed in the professional art industry. We exist to foster egalitarian, accessible, and democratic support for artists, and to connect collectors with the art that they love.
