International Deadline: July 22, 2018 – Target Gallery invites artists working in all visual media to submit artwork to the Art of Armistice, a group exhibition that explores the after effects of war. This exhibition will focus on the physical, mental, and cultural effects war has on the world through the perspective of both civilians and veterans alike.

This exhibition will be paired with different public programs in honor of the 100th year anniversary of the ground breaking of the former munitions plant that the Torpedo Factory Art Center now calls home.

Spencer Dormitzer attended the school of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1986 and has been a working artist for over twenty-five years. Dormitzer has also worked as Studio Manager for New York abstractionist David Reed and as an Executive Producer for the New York Cosmos. Dormitzer has had over 50 solo and group shows in his career, from such places as Chicago, Illinois; Antwerp, Belgium; Santa Fe, New Mexico; and New York City. His work also belongs in over 100 private and museum collections. Spencer’s work has been featured in the new art examiner, Chicago Tribune, Philadelphia Enquirer, Chicago Reader and New City Chicago Magazine.

Work should be less than 15 feet overall (height + width + length). With no one dimension measuring more than 7 feet.

All entries must have been conceived and created by the artist submitting the work and must have been created within the last 5 years. All work selected must be ready for exhibit: 2D work must be framed with secure hanging devices; 3D work must be suitably prepared with instructions for installation.

A non-refundable $35 entry fee includes submission for 3 pieces of artwork – each work may include one image along with only one detail image per work.

Whether your piece has been selected by the juror or not, notification will be sent to you via email.

A commission of 40% will be taken on all works sold.

July 22, 2018 – Entry deadline
August 10, 2018 – Artists notified
October 19 – October 23, 2018 – Accepted work due in the gallery
October 27 – December 2, 2018 – Exhibition dates
November 16, 2018 – Reception, 7-9 pm
