Competitions VAA 35th Juried Open Exhibition

U.S. National Deadline: January 21, 2018 – The Visual Arts Alliance’ announces an open call for entries for its upcoming 35th Juried Exhibition, on display February 26, 2018 – April 28, 2018 at the BLUEorange Gallery, Houston, Texas. This juried exhibition is open to all artists aged 18 and over.
Artwork may be created from any media, in both 2-D and 3-D with the exception of video works. Work must not have been previously included in a VAA exhibit. A diptych or triptych is considered a single work. 2-D works must be suitably framed or edge-finished and not larger than 30″ (including frame).
AWARDS, CATALOG, CD
More than $2,550 in cash will be awarded. First place award will be $1,000; second place, $750; third place $500; and 3 Honorable Mentions. An exhibition catalog will be produced; to see the most recent catalog; to see the most recent catalog here.
All submitted artworks will be included in a custom-designed CD which is hand-delivered to about 50 Houston-area galleries and art consultants. You may buy a copy of the CD for yourself .

The entry fee is $50 for VAA members and $60 for non-members – for up to 4 entries.
BLUEorange Gallery will take a 30% commission on sales. Sales transactions will be made by BLUEorange Gallery. VAA does not require a commission on sales of this exhibition.
- January 21 (Sunday), 11:59 pm: Submission deadline (this will NOT be extended)
- February 8 (Thursday): Notifications begin
- February 25 (Sunday), 9-10 am: Art dropoff for local artists & installation
- March 7 (Wednesday), 6-8 pm: Opening reception. Awards presented at 7 pm
- March 17 (Saturday), 2 pm: Artist talks
- April 29 (Sunday), 10 am-11 am: Pick up & Deinstallation

Visual Arts Alliance (VAA) is an educational organization for serious practitioners of the visual arts and interested members of the general public. Founded in Houston, TX in 1981, VAA is an all volunteer-run, 501(c)3, non-profit organization.
VAA produces professionally juried art exhibitions providing opportunities for members and non-members to have their work professionally judged and viewed by the general public. VAA also organizes educational programs including studio, gallery and museum tours in addition to presentations of art-related resources. Recreational programs provide creative and supportive events beneficial to artists.
