U.S. National Deadline: March 30, 2022 – The Visual Arts Alliance announces an artist call to enter its upcoming 38th Juried Open Exhibition. VAA welcomes Alison de Lima Greene, Isabel Brown Wilson Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston as the juror for the Exhibition.

On view May 8, 2022 thru June 11, 2022 at Sabine Street Studios, 1907 Sabine Street, Houston, TX 77007.

ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition is open to U.S. artist, aged 18 and over. Artwork may be created from any media, in both 2-D and 3-D. Video works are not accepted. The maximum size of work is 100″, including frame, if applicable.

JUROR
Alison de Lima Greene is the Isabel Brown Wilson Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, where she has been on the curatorial staff since 1984. Before moving to Texas, Ms. Greene worked in the department of European Paintings at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and lectured at The Cooper Union. She attended Vassar College, where she graduated cum laude, and received her Master’s degree from New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts. Ms. Greene was a member of the leadership team supervising the opening installations of the internationally celebrated Nancy and Rich Kinder Building (2020), and among her recent projects for the MFAH were special installations created by Yayoi Kusama (2016); Pipilotti Rist (2017); Mike and Doug Starn (2018), and William Forsythe (2019), as well as the Francis Bacon: Late Paintings (2020) exhibition… see more

ENTRY FEE (up to 4 entries)
• $20 for VAA members
• $60 for non-member

APPLY ONLINE
A maximum of four (4) entries may be submitted.  Work must not have been previously included in a VAA exhibit.

Those accepted will be notified by phone call followed by email. Those that are not accepted will be notified by email.

SALES
VAA does not require a commission on sales of this exhibition. Sales are handled directly by the artist.

SCHEDULE

  • March 30 (Wednesday): Submission deadline (this will NOT be extended)
  • April 24 (Wednesday): Notifications Begin
  • May 8 (Sunday), 9 am-10 am: Drop-off & Installation
  • May 10 (Monday): Exhibit Opens
  • May 18 (Wednesday): Reception, 6 pm-9 pm, (Awards announced at 7 pm)
  • June 11 (Saturday): Artist Talks, (2 pm-4 pm)
  • June 12 (Sunday), 10 am- 11 am: Pickup & De-installation

Visual Arts Alliance (VAA) is an educational organization for serious practitioners of the visual arts and interested members of the general public. VAA is an all volunteer-run, 501(c)3, non-profit organization.

VAA produces professionally juried art exhibitions providing opportunities for members and non-members to have their work professionally judged and viewed by the general public. VAA also organizes educational programs including studio, gallery and museum tours in addition to presentations of art-related resources. Recreational programs provide creative and supportive events beneficial to artists.
