Competitions Derwent Art Prize 2016
International Deadline: June 1, 2016 – Derwent, internationally renowned pencil manufacturers, are proud to announce that the third installment of the Derwent Art Prize is now open for entries. The Derwent Art Prize was conceived in 2012 and aims to reward excellence by showcasing the very best artworks. The Prize is open to all living British and international artists over the age of 18 years old on 1st June 2016. Artists are invited to submit up to 6 images.
The work entered must be created in pencil (including water-soluble, pastel, graphite, charcoal or coloured pencils). The work must not exceed 182cms in its greatest dimension. There is no minimum size limit. The Prize is open to both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works. All entered work must have been completed within the last 3 years. The work selected for exhibition must be available from 1st September 2016 – 31st January 2017 .
EXHIBITION & PRIZES
An exhibition of the selected work will be on show at the Mall Galleries, London from 19-24 September 2016. Almost £12,500 worth of prizes to be won:
First Prize – £6,000
Second Prize – £3,500
Third Prize – £1,000
2 x People’s Choice Awards – £700 each
Young Artist Award – £500
All artists selected for exhibition will be invited to the Private View and Prize Giving on 19th September 2016.
Artists are responsible for paying all travel costs and expenses incurred if they wish to attend the Exhibition or Private View.
£10 for first work, £2 for subsequent.

THE SELECTION PROCESS
The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. All works will be judged anonymously and there will be no segregation by country, genre or style etc.
DELIVERY & FRAMING
All selected artists will be contacted after the selection with full delivery details and dates. The delivery cost of the work to and from the exhibition is the responsibility of the artist and the artist shall be responsible for any import custom charges and duties. Framing or mounting of works, if required for exhibition, is also the responsibility of the artist and must be carried out prior to delivery. Works not requiring framing or mounting must be suitably protected to avoid damage in transit and clear indication should be given as to how the work could be presented.
SALE OF WORKS
Works selected for exhibition may be offered for sale. The Cumberland Pencil Company will levy 40% plus VAT commission on all works sold during the exhibitions or afterwards directly as a result of the Derwent Art Prize both at the exhibitions and on the website.
1 June 2016: Deadline for entry
24th June 2016: All artists notified of first stage selection process
30th August – 12th September 2016: Delivery of work (to Art Moves of Chelsea)
12th September 2016: Delivery of work (in person to Art Moves of Chelsea, 10am-5pm GMT)
19th-24th September 2016: Exhibition opens to public
19th September 2016: Private View and Prize Winners announced
October – December 2016: Exhibition tour
The work selected for exhibition must be available from 1st September 2016 – 31st January 2017.
