International Deadline: September 6, 2024 – BARDAS Investment Group is developing a new creative workspace located in the heart of Hollywood and set in the 1920’s Art Deco splendor of the original Technicolor building. The building provides 200,000 RSF of creative workspace, production studios, edit suites, writer’s rooms, and a production stage.

Artwork for Echelon Studios at Television City presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the artistic vibrancy of Hollywood. Each piece will be curated to create a distinct experience, while collectively, the art installations will serve as placemaking devices that enhance the campus and integrate seamlessly into Hollywood’s cultural fabric.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists age 18 or older may apply as an individual or as a team. The RFQ is open to all and not restricted to any geographic location but the following considerations will be strongly considered:

  • Artists who can demonstrate the ability to oversee the design, fabrication and installation of public works – or who have a history of working with design/build/engineering/fabrication teams to accomplish these needs.
  • Artists without previous public art experience that demonstrate an ability to manage a team to accomplish the goals are still strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Artists in traditionally and historically underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

BUDGET
Each of the 4 potential artwork locations has an allocated budget ranging from $150,000 to $400,000. The exact final commission contracts will be determined based on the approved and selected proposals and the needs of each.

Commission budgets are to be inclusive of Artist fees, artwork fabrication and installation costs, insurance, engineering and any transportation costs as well as any other costs associated with creating the artwork including foundations, footings, lighting or signage.

  • RFQ released: August 8th, 2024 (9am PST)
  • Deadline for questions: August 16th, 2024 (5pm PST)
  • Response to questions posted: August 20th, 2024 (5pm PST)
  • Deadline to apply: September 6th, 2024 (5pm PST)
  • Shortlist Selected: September 30th, 2024
  • Shortlisted Artists start on conceptual designs to present in November
  • Shortlisted Artists present concepts to Selection Panel: November 2024
  • Finalists Selected: January 2025
