Festivals Genius Loci Weimar Festival : Videomapping & Light Art Competition
Opportunity Description
International Deadline: June 15, 2025 – Genius Loci Weimar is looking for innovative ideas for the projection festival from the 05-07 September 2025! This years theme will be Goethe’s literary masterpiece FAUST.
We expressly encourage short film makers, motion graphic artists, and video and film artists of all disciplines and genres to apply for the selected location with their different aesthetics, animation techniques, and narrative styles.
All interested artists can submit their conceptual ideas for this year’s location. Two conceptual proposals for the building/object will be awarded by the jury. A budget of €10,000 per awarded submission is available for realization (i.e., €10,000 for each of the two objects, totaling €20,000). The winning submissions will be presented in alternation on the building/object during the festival from September 5–7, 2025. At the festival one of the two submissions will be awarded another 5.000€.

Genius Loci Weimar is an exciting international festival for multimedia facade projections and site-specific audiovisual performances. The festival combines the historical spirit of Weimar and the contemporary techniques of video mapping, involving static objects in order to create an additional geometrical dimension and optical illusion. Genius Loci Weimar combines an international competition, exhibition, workshops, club-event, and public evening shows of the awarded projections, thereby offering an overview of the current international video mapping art-production to a wide audience.
