Art Calls The Proximity of Harm – Visions of a Compromised Everyday Life
Opportunity Description
International Deadline: August 15, 2026 – The photography competition “The Proximity of Harm—Visions of a Compromised Everyday Life” is organised by the Ippocrate Foundation as part of a cultural research project dedicated to investigating contemporary forms of harm and their manifestations in everyday life.
“Prossimità del danno—Visions of a Compromised Everyday Life” serves as a platform for visual research that uses the language of photography as a tool for the critical observation of the present. The concept of damage is understood in a broad and multi-layered sense: not merely as an environmental phenomenon, but as a pervasive condition that permeates relationships, social systems and the processes of constructing individual and collective identity. It is a visual research project that uses photography to observe the present.
Damage is understood as a pervasive condition: not merely physical or environmental, but also emotional, social and perceptual. Through images and visual narratives, the project explores what, despite being close at hand and part of everyday life, often remains invisible.
