Art Calls Anonymous Drawings 2027
Opportunity Description
International Deadline: September 27, 2026 – How does one’s judgment change when one knows nothing about the names and origins of the artists? How does one determine the value of a drawing when all works are offered at the same price? Where is the boundary between art and non-art?
ANONYMOUS DRAWERS is an exhibition project that explores these questions in practice. The exhibition at the ZAK – Center for Contemporary Art in Berlin presents around 600 drawings by 600 international artists without revealing their names or the titles of their works. There are no thematic restrictions; the only limitation is the maximum format of A3 (29.7 × 42 cm).
Each work is offered at a symbolic uniform price of €250. Of this, the artists receive €200, and the remaining amount finances future calls for proposals and exhibitions. The uniform price does not reflect the market value of a work. It serves as a conceptual placeholder for every conceivable price in the art market and for the possibility of art beyond economic hierarchies.
Anonymity is maintained until a drawing is sold. As soon as a work is sold, it is removed from the exhibition wall. In its place, the artist’s name and place of origin are written on the wall. In this way, the overall appearance of the exhibition is constantly changing – and the exhibition itself becomes a work of art in progress.

Biographical information is omitted. Selection is based solely on anonymized image files. Only selected artists will be asked to send their original drawings to Berlin. Participation is free and open to everyone. “Anonymous Drawings” is both a conceptual work and an exhibition platform: a collective artwork without hierarchies that continually re-examines the relationship between art, the market, and the public.
