International Deadline: January 13, 2025 – The Grange Projects is happy to announce that applications are now open for our artist-led 2025 In Residence Programme – a series of five residency sessions for artists and creatives, running from May to September 2025. As in previous years the In Residence programme is offered on a Pay What You Can basis that relies on the generosity and reciprocity of everyone involved.
DETAILS
The 2025 In Residence programme consists of five 10-day (9 nights) residency sessions between May and September, with 6 artists plus Nicola and John In Residence for each session. Our aim for 2025 is to select appropriate groups of creatives that will complement each other’s projects. Our motivation is to establish a critical, supportive, dynamic and safe space for each of the five sessions that all participants will benefit from, including us. We ask that participating artists commit to their 10-day block of activity, once accepted for a session.
For the 2025 In Residence programme the Grange Projects is inviting artists to submit a specific proposal to undertake an intensive period of production or research and development via our application form.
Residency Sessions:
- Session A 12 – 21 May
- Session B 2 – 11 June
- Session C 14 – 23 July
- Session D 11 – 20 August
- Session E 1 – 10 September
Facilities:
The Grange offers an exceptional setting in nature to pursue your creative practice alongside ours. Our vision is to create, facilitate and participate in a convivial and generative atmosphere in which a key feature is a supportive, engaged feedback process with fellow residents. You can expect to encounter an interesting mix of disciplines and interests.
The Grange Projects provides:
- Access to outbuildings containing workshops with hand and power tools and equipment including a kiln, studio spaces.
- A private room with a desk.
- Wifi in all rooms and throughout the house.
- All linen and towels are provided.
- Toilets, shower and bath are shared access.
- Use of the communal kitchen, a library with an extensive collection of graphic novels and art books, and living room with work stations as well as access to the extensive gardens and grounds.
- Meals: Vegan/vegetarian breakfast, lunch, dinner. All food allergies and needs will be discussed in advance to ensure options for you.
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided for you to help yourself to.
- Hot drinks available for you to help yourself to throughout your stay.
- The evening meal will be communal and we ask for all guests to commit to joining.
Resident’s Responsibilities:
- Transport costs.
- Material costs.
We ask that you arrange to have individual insurance in place to cover work, equipment or materials belonging to you and your activity at The Grange.
Costs:
The Grange Projects does not receive funding towards the costs of hosting residencies and we want to ensure the residencies are affordable for all interested artists/creatives. All residencies are offered on a Pay What You Can financial contribution. Our suggested contribution is £50 plus per night, for a 9 night residency. All participants are expected to make a monetary contribution of some sort. We appreciate and rely on all participants’ goodwill in embracing the value system that has the potential for an exciting new model of artist activity.

About:
The Grange Projects hosts artist led integrated creative activity at The Grange in Norfolk. Everything that takes place here is made possible by the generosity and support of the owners of The Grange. Located in the small rural village Great Cressingham, Norfolk, The Grange was originally built as a rectory. This wonderful Georgian house is set in 10 acres of tranquil gardens and grounds. It is a beautiful and magical place offering space and peace for everyone to benefit from. The Grange is currently home to graphic novelist Dr Nicola Streeten and artist John Plowman who jointly lead The Grange Projects, with help and advice from their artist daughter Sally Plowman.
