Compete Small Works: 47th Harper College National Juried Exhibition

Opportunity Description
U.S. National Deadline: June 16, 2025 – Harper College’s annual Small Works national juried exhibition highlights work selected from entries by artists from across the country.
Small Works is a national juried show of artwork no more than 24” in its largest dimension (including frame). All media are eligible except jewelry, film/video. Accepted artists may be selected for a solo show at Harper College.
Exhibition at Harper College September 2 – October 9, 2025.
ELIGIBILITY AND MEDIA
- All artists age 18 and over living in the United States are eligible.
- In its largest dimension, artwork must be 24 inches or less, including frame if applicable.
- All media are eligible, excluding jewelry and film/video.
- Weight limitation: 45 pounds
- Work that requires special installation or instructions will NOT be accepted.
- Only work created within the last three years is eligible.
JUROR
Ionit Behar is the Curator at DePaul Art Museum (DPAM), Chicago. Behar holds a Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Illinois at Chicago, an M.A. in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute, and a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Tel Aviv University.
Recent exhibitions at DPAM are Selva Aparicio: In Memory Of (2024); Life Cycles: DePaul Art Museum Collection (2023); A Natural Turn: María Berrío, Joiri Minaya, Rosana Paulino, and Kelly Sinnapah Mary (2022); Solo(s): Krista Franklin (2022); Claudia Peña Salinas: Quetzalli (2021) and co-curated LatinXAmerican (2021). CATALOG, SALES AND REPRODUCTION
In conjunction with the Small Works exhibition, a color catalog will be produced. Each participating artist will receive catalogs by mail after the exhibition closes. Harper College will not retain commission on sales. Consent to reproduction for publicity purposes for this or future Harper national exhibitions is considered granted.
ENTRY FEE
One $30 nonrefundable fee entitles each artist to submit up to three entries.
ACCEPTED WORK
Accepted entries will be posted on this web page by July 11, 2025.
DATES
- 6/16: Entry deadline (end of day)
- 7/11: Jury notification posted on website
- 8/12: Deadline for artwork to be received
- 9/2 – 10/9: Exhibition at Harper College
