Compete Visual Arts Alliance 41st Juried Open Exhibition
Opportunity Description
U.S. National Deadline: September 12, 2024 – The Visual Arts Alliance announces an artist call to enter its upcoming 41st Juried Open Exhibition. On view November 3 – November 17, 2024, at the Reeves Art + Design Gallery, Houston, Texas.
ELIGIBILITY
This juried exhibition is open to anyone over the age of 18. A maximum of four (4) entries may be submitted. Artwork may be created from any media, in both 2-D and 3-D with the exception of video works. A diptych or triptych is considered a single work. 2-D works must be suitably framed or edge-finished and may not be larger than 48″ (including frame). Sculptures cannot exceed 48″ and must have an appropritate base.
Only conventional picture hanging hooks will be used. Works must be framed and appropriately wired.
JUROR – Gus Kopriva
A longtime Houston resident, Gus is currently serving as the President of the non-profit Redbud Arts Center. Gus is a curator and co-founder of the Original Art on the Boulevard Program “True North“ (2013) with Chris Silkwood. He is the curator/manager/engineer of the current temporary public art on the Boulevards Program (Heights, Richmond, & others. He is a former corporate Engineering Director and founded the commercial Redbud Gallery in 1999. Gus is the curator / co-owner of the Kopriva Collection of over 2000 works. ENTRY FEE (up to 4 entries)
• $30 for VAA members
• $60 for non-member
APPLY ONLINE
A maximum of four (4) entries may be submitted. Work must not have been previously included in a VAA exhibit.
Those accepted will be notified by phone call followed by email. Those that are not accepted will be notified by email.
SALES
VAA does not take a commission on sales. Sales are handled directly by the artist.
SCHEDULE
- September 12, 11:59 p.m.(Thursday): Submission deadline (this will NOT be extended)
- October 20 (Sunday): Notifications Begin
- November 3 (Sunday), 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.: Drop-off, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.: Installation
- November 6 (Wednesday): Reception, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., (Awards announced at 7:00 p.m.)
- November 16 (Saturday): Artist Talks, (2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)
- November 17 (Sunday), 9:00 -10:00 a.m.: Pickup & De-installation

Visual Arts Alliance (VAA) is an educational organization for serious practitioners of the visual arts and interested members of the general public. VAA is an all volunteer-run, 501(c)3, non-profit organization.
VAA produces professionally juried art exhibitions providing opportunities for members and non-members to have their work professionally judged and viewed by the general public. VAA also organizes educational programs including studio, gallery and museum tours in addition to presentations of art-related resources. Recreational programs provide creative and supportive events beneficial to artists.
