Opportunity Description
International Deadline: May 13, 2026 – The American Watercolor Society (AWS) is one of America’s oldest arts societies. The mission of the American Watercolor Society is to foster the appreciation of watercolor media, and to advance education in support of this end.
The AWS 2026 Associate Members Online Exhibition is open to current American Watercolor Society Associate Members only.
The Exhibition will be on view online on the AWS YouTube channel beginning June 25, 2026. It will close August 30, 2026, although the artwork slideshow will remain viewable.
ELIGIBILITY
The exhibition is open to current American Watercolor Society Associate Members only.
- Eligible media: watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera
- Work must be water media on paper (Yupo is accepted) or illustration board. No other surfaces accepted.
- No collage, pastels, digital images, any form of print or reproductions.
- No work generated with or assisted by AI (artificial intelligence) may be submitted to the exhibition.

AWARDS
- 1 st Place (Margery Soroka Memorial Award) – $1,500
- 2 nd Place (Barse Miller Memorial Award) – $1,000
- 3 rd Place – $500
- 3 Awards of Merit
In addition, this year’s awards will be accompanied by gifts
from Portable Painter and Silver Brush Limited companies.

Selection Notification Date: After June 2, 2026.
SALES
All paintings will be considered for sale at the price set forth by the artist unless marked NFS (Not for Sale) or 0 (zero). Prices may not be changed or withdrawn once submitted. Any painting sold in the Exhibition is subject to a 35% donation to AWS.
