Art Calls Light and Shadow

Nails in the Wall Gallery Metuchen, New Jersey, United States

Nails in the Wall Gallery

Opportunity Description

International Deadline: July 21, 2026 – Nails in the Wall Gallery invites artists to incorporate light and shadow, literally or figuratively, in the abstract or realistically, to create the essence of contrast.

  • Light and Shadow: a Study in Contrast
  • Luminescence. Shade. Chiaroscuro.
  • Light and dark existed at the creation of the world.
  • Can there be light without darkness?
  • Is shadow the absence of light, or does it have an intentional form and substance?
  • Is light good and darkness evil, or does each contain both?
  • Shadows may be foreboding, or they may provide solace.
  • Beautiful illumination may expose a little too much reality.

Exhibit Dates: Sat, Sept 19 (reception 2-4pm) to Sun, Dec 12, 2026.
