Opportunity Description
International Deadline: August 16, 2026 – Head On Photo Photo invites photographers worldwide to submit their work to one of the most respected photography competions on the global stage. Head On Photo Awards offer an $80,000 prize pool.
Showcasing outstanding work from enthusiast, emerging and established artists, the exhibits presents a powerful mix of online and in-person exhibitions and events across Sydney, with select exhibitions touring nationally and internationally.
Underscoring our belief that all photo artists need a fair chance to show their work, our selection panel reviews exhibition proposals without the artists’ names or pedigrees, ensuring that Head On selects work on merit.
ELIGIBILITY
Open to photographers of every level and judged completely anonymously on merit alone, the Awards celebrate the world’s best photography from phone snapshots and studio work to compelling documentary photography.
AWARD SUMMARY
- AUD$80,000 prize pool – cash and high-end product
- 100% Anonymous Judging – judged without artists’ names to ensure equal opportunity. (Your gear and resume don’t matter, only the image)
- 110 finalists featured in a printed and online exhibition at Head On Photo Festival 2026 and included in a hard-cover catalogue
- 200 semi-finalists shown in a digital exhibition at a major festival venue
- One overall winner and two runners-up per category
PRIZE POOL
The three Head On Photo Awards 2026 category winners share an incredible prize pool exceeding AUD$80,000, including AUD$15,000 in cash.
- Overall winners receive: AUD$5,000 cash, a premium OM Systems Camera Kit, a Photobook Australia printing package, and premium magazine subscriptions
- Runners-up receive: A Photobook Australia printing package, and premium magazine subscriptions
- All finalists receive a place in in a fully produced and curated printed exhibition at a key festival venue, online exhibition (www.headon.org.au)
- All finalists are included in a hard-cover catalogue
