International Deadline: April 20, 2026 – Every year The Bowery Gallery Annual Juried Competition is open to all applicants working in two-dimensional media.
Bowery is pleased to present this year’s juried competition. All selected works will be hung in the gallery’s space in Chelsea, NYC from July 28- August 15- 2026.
ELIGIBILITY
Eligible two dimensional media include painting, drawing, printmaking, pastel and mixed media. Sculpture, photography and digital art are not eligible. Work may not exceed 36” in height or width, not including frame. Bowery accepts applications from outside the U.S.
JUROR
Susan Lichtman is a figurative painter of domestic spaces. She is Professor and Charles Bloom Chair, Emerita, of the Department of Fine Arts at Brandeis University, where she taught for over 40 years. She has also taught at The Chautauqua Institute, The Pont-Aven School of Art and MassArt New England. She has been a visiting artist at numerous colleges and universities around the U.S. Lichtman has had solo exhibitions at Steven Harvey Fine Arts Projects (NY, NY); Fahrenheit Gallery (Madrid, Spain); Gross McCleaf Gallery, (Philadelphia, PA); and Wilson Museum at Hollins University (Roanoke, VA), among many other venues… see more
FEES
A $35.00 entry fee allows each artist to submit 1-3 images. A $6.00 fee is required for each additional image. A maximum of 6 images may be submitted.

Bowery Gallery will make every effort to notify all applicants of juror’s decision by June 1, 2026.
SALES
All work will be for sale unless artist states otherwise. All proceeds will go to the artist.
