The Homiens Art Prize

Opportunity Description

International Deadline: July 31, 2025 – The Homiens Art Prize awards artists over $12,000 USD annually, which means that it is one of the highest paying art prizes maintained by an independent art gallery that, to protect the artistic integrity of the prize, accepts no sponsorship. We ensure that 100% of the value that we offer in our prizes is received by artists as cash awards. In addition, ownership of all artworks entered remains with the artist. All entrants are free to exhibit and display their artworks elsewhere.

ELIGIBILITY
Our prize is open to all artists and art forms internationally. Artworks completed in any year are eligible, and there are no theme or size restrictions. We celebrate our chosen artists across our media, exhibiting their art online where it is viewed by artists and collectors throughout the world. Homiens sponsors a platform for artists to network and collaborate, reach a global audience of buyers and collectors, gain institutional validation, and locate opportunities in the professional artistic industries.

JURY
The Jurors will be Director of Homiens, Kita Das, and Ol James, PhD. All entries are reviewed blind.

Kita Das (BFA COFA) researches transnational creative practice at UNSW where she is completing a PhD. She has exhibited work at leading galleries, worked at prominent museums, and is the Co-Art Director of The Letter Review. Her skills as both practicing artist and researcher coalesce in her desire to assist artists internationally to participate in a democratized, egalitarian, and accessible professional art industry.

Ol James, PhD. is the current Co-Art Director of The Letter Review, holds a PhD from UNSW, is a casual academic, and has guest lectured at UNSW. Ol has worked at other prestigious magazines including Overland, and Southerly. Ol has had creative work published in leading magazines, work longlisted for major awards, and has received major government funding to produce original work at major venues.

About:
Homiens is an international art gallery by artists, for artists and collectors, which lowers barriers to entry for artists seeking to participate and succeed in the professional art industry. We exist to foster egalitarian, accessible, and democratic support for artists, and to connect collectors with the art that they love. To this end, we offer a year round program including the Homiens Art Prize, and the exhibition of artists in the Homiens gallery.
