Opportunity Description

International Deadline: January 18, 2021 – Applications are open now for I-Park’s 2021 Site-Responsive Art Residency & Biennale. The residency element will run from August 30 to September 20 and host between 6 and 7 artists working in the field of site-responsive art. The Biennale will open to the public on September 18, 2021.

An artist’s stipend of $3,500 will be awarded to each invitee, along with economy travel costs.

Private living quarters, a meals program and limited local transportation services will be provided to participants. Workshop space and a wide selection of tools, equipment and materials are readily available.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists/designers from the following creative disciplines are encouraged to apply: visual arts, music composition/sound art, language arts, architecture, new media and landscape/garden/ecological design.

For 2021, all works must include a substantial physical installation that will be remain in good condition through the autumn of 2022.

Collaborating teams are welcome to apply but the team leader is responsible for all aspects of participation, including communications and allocation of the artist’s stipend.

FEE
A $35 application fee is required to defray the considerable costs associated with the selection and curatorial process.

I-Park is both an open-air and a closed-studio laboratory for individual creative pursuits in the fields of music composition/sound art, the visual arts, architecture, moving image, creative writing and landscape/ garden/ ecological design. From insights developed in the laboratory setting, it also develops and sponsors specially-themed cross-disciplinary projects of cultural significance – and brings these discoveries to light in the public domain.

I-Park supports these individual and collaborative investigations through its international artists-in-residence program, the aesthetic engagement of its natural and built environments and with on-site exhibitions, performances and collegial exchanges.

Since its founding in 2001, I-Park has sponsored almost a thousand fully-funded artists’ residencies.
