Compete PhotoPlace Gallery: Light & Shadow
Opportunity Description
International Deadline: August 12, 2024 – For this exhibit, PhotoPlace Gallery seeks images that effectively use light and shadow to draw attention to the subject, emphasize dimension, strengthen composition, or simply create beauty by the interplay of the two.
Light and the absence of light – shadow – are fundamental ingredients of photography. The relationship of the two allows artists of any kind to create the illusion of 3 dimensions on a 2-dimensional surface. When light and shadow work effectively together, magic can happen.
Exhibition: October 4 – October 25, 2024.
VENUES
Juror will select up to 35 images for exhibition in our Middlebury, Vermont gallery, and 40 more for display in our Online Gallery. All 75 images will be featured on social media and displayed in the exhibit catalog.
JUROR
Laura Moya is the former Director of Photolucida, having organized their Portfolio Review events and overseeing Critical Mass programming for many years. Laura co-curated an independent project, The Early Works Project, which was shown at Newspace Center for Photography, Rayko Photo Center, the Center for Fine Art Photography, and the Photographic Resource Center, as well as The Elevated Selfie: Beyond the Bathroom Mirror, which exhibited at LightBox Photographic Gallery and the Griffin Museum of Photography… see more

PhotoPlace Gallery offers monthly, juried photographic exhibitions to photographers worldwide, each with a new topic and internationally recognized juror. All juror selections are exhibited in either our physical gallery in Middlebury, Vermont, or permanently displayed on this website.
