Internet Pattern and Repetition
International Deadline: November 15, 2021 – Site:Brooklyn is seeking work that builds on, questions, and explores, in the widest way possible, pattern and replicated forms, in all styles and across all mediums.
Beginning in the post-war period, pattern and repetition assumed an unquestionable centrality to the visual arts. Prior to this, neither was absent (there were Islamic arabesques, mosaics, Chevron stones in African architecture, and the material cultures of craft more generally to name but a few examples). However, in Western art, it was only the advent of modernism, which sought to incorporate these non-European influences with a number of formalist explorations of space, that pattern and repetition came into their own as self-conscious subjects and methods of artistic practice.
Online Exhibition December 23, 2021 – January 23, 2022.

Site:Brooklyn Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting the current practice of contemporary artists. We are taking Site:Brooklyn online and on the road, with a new series of interactive exhibitions. Our goal remains the same, to connect artists with an expert and diverse set of jurors through the open call format. Our new program focuses on online open call exhibitions, selected by a cast of new jurors, solo artist features, and spotlights. As safety and regulations permit, we aim to host a number of exhibitions around the country.
