Internet Black and White

Decagon Gallery Internet

Decagon Gallery

Opportunity Description

International Deadline: December 31, 2025 – Decagon Gallery invites photographers worldwide to submit to Black and White, an exhibition exploring the timeless power and beauty of monochrome photography.

Stripped of color, images are distilled to their purest elements—light and shadow, line and form, tone and texture. Black and white photography asks us to see differently, to find emotion and meaning in the subtleties of contrast and composition. Whether stark and dramatic or soft and poetic, these works remind us that simplicity can hold immense depth.

ELIGIBILITY
We welcome all approaches: traditional darkroom prints, digital black and white photography, toned or alternative processes, and experimental interpretations of the theme. Subject matter is open, from landscapes and portraits to abstractions and documentary work, as long as the work embraces the monochrome vision.

AWARDS

  • First Place: $500 and a solo exhibition on our website.
  • Second Place: $200
  • Third Place: $100
  • Honorable Mentions and the Director’s Choice will also be awarded.
  • All selected photographers will receive a digital award badge and be included in our online exhibition.
  • An exhibition catalog will be available for purchase on Blurb.

JUROR
We are honored to welcome Douglas Beasley as juror. Beasley’s work explores the spiritual and emotional dimensions of people and place, seeking to reveal how the sacred can be recognized and expressed in everyday life.

After earning his BFA from the University of Michigan, he built a career that spans commercial fashion, international assignments, and fine art photography. His projects, often supported by grants and commissions, have been exhibited and collected widely, including a permanent installation at the Castillo D’Albertis Cultural Museum in Genoa, Italy. He is the author of several books, among them Japan: A Nisei’s First Encounter, Earth Meets Spirit, and Zen & the Art of Photography.

Beyond his own practice, Beasley is deeply committed to fostering creative vision in others. He is the founder of Vision Quest Photo Workshops, leads retreats worldwide and at his Trade River Retreat Center in Wisconsin, and is the publisher of Shots Magazine, a respected independent journal of fine art photography.

FEE
The entry fee is only $25 for 4 images and $4 for each additional image up to a total of 10 images.
